The town has a population of around 33,000 people and is situated in the foothills of the Peak District National Park. Glossop has a rich history dating back to the 12th century, when it was founded as a hunting lodge. The town also played a significant role in the development of the co-operative movement in the 19th century. Today, Glossop is a popular tourist destination, thanks to its picturesque location in the Peak District and its many historic buildings and landmarks.
