Ellesmere Port is a town in Cheshire, England, located near the River Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal. It is part of the Cheshire West and Chester local government district and has a population of around 55,000 people. Historically, Ellesmere Port was a small town focused on canal transport and industrial manufacturing, particularly in the chemicals and automotive sectors. However, in recent years, the town has undergone significant regeneration, with new retail and leisure facilities, housing developments, and a focus on sustainable economic growth. Today, Ellesmere Port is home to a number of major employers, including the Vauxhall Motors car plant, which produces the Astra model, and the Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet, one of the largest retail parks in Europe. The town also has excellent transport links, with the M53 motorway and the A41 trunk road providing easy access to Liverpool, Manchester, and North Wales.
