Accrington is a town located in the Hyndburn district of Lancashire, England. It has a population of around 35,000 people and is situated approximately 4 miles east of Blackburn and 6 miles north-west of Burnley. Historically, Accrington was a centre for the cotton and textile industries, and it was during the Industrial Revolution that the town experienced significant growth and development. Accrington is perhaps best known for its connection to the Accrington Pals, a battalion of soldiers who fought in World War I and suffered significant casualties during the Battle of the Somme. Today, Accrington is a thriving town with a mix of traditional industries and modern businesses. The town centre boasts a range of shops, restaurants, and cafes, and there are several parks and green spaces in the surrounding area. The town is also home to Accrington Stanley Football Club, which plays in the English Football League.
